How A/C Functions in Your Car

Air conditioning is based on the physical properties of a gas called refrigerant. When this gas is compressed in your compressor, it turns into a hot liquid, which can then be cooled down easily in the condenser. After cooling, that liquid gets released into a non-pressurized chamber, which allows it to turn into a gas and take in all the heat energy that it lost, but since it was cooled, that ends up making the gas, the chamber, and the surrounding air cold. That cold air is then pumped through your vents as air conditioning, and the refrigerant can be reused.
